Week 3:
The assignment this week was to storyboard an old Mary Tyler Moore script using characters from Spongebob Squarepants. I would like to tackle that assignment someday, but since I needed to work on my own storyboards, Tim allowed me to board a segment from the "You Juice"/"Rise and Shine" episode (the title of the episode is likely going to change to "Rise and Shine".
Week 4:
This week's assignment was "the midnight snack" - board a character coming to the refrigerator and finding something unexpected there. Once again, I used one of my own characters, and she ends up in "Food Narnia" (the fridge served as a portal, much like the wardrobe from "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" by C. S. Lewis
Week 5:
Revisions to last weeks work. Each week, we are supposed to tell our stories in no more than 12 panels. This is proving difficult. This could go on much longer, and maybe I'll explore this later as a dream sequence or some other bit of business in the show.
Week 10:
For a change of pace, we are working on character designs this week. We are supposed to design two characters, and this will be the perfect chance for me to take a crack at designing two of the four guardian angels - one for each of the main kids. I've chosen Tony's angel, William, and Maria's angel, Eva.

Week 11:
This week we get to board a scene using the characters we designed last week. This couldn't' have worked out any better if I'd planned it this way! There is a scene from the pilot episode that I was wanting to work on, and it involved the angels. The only problem is that pesky 12 panel guideline. I ended up going slightly over. I'm also experimenting with a different way of drawing the boards in Photoshop. I'm not sure I like this any better than what I've been doing.
Week 12:
Revisions to last week's work, gearing up for the final. I definitely don't care for this technique, and I'm going to work on getting Toon Boom Storyboard. I hear it's really good for making professional-looking storyboards quickly. It has to be better than this.
Week 13:
We're pitching the boards from the last couple of weeks. I think this is a really good assignment, considering how important it is to be able to pitch well. Once again, I'm not happy with my technical limitations, and will be looking for a better solution to this issue.
Week 14:
The final pass on the boards we started in week 11. I can't wait to take another crack at this scene later, maybe when I get Storyboard Pro. This Photoshop technique is just not working, because I can't really concentrate on the story, since I have to think so much about the drawing process itself.
Summary
The twelve panel storyboards proved to be a challenge throughout the semester. One purpose they served was to force us to concentrate on what was really necessary to the story, visually speaking. This way, we're not getting bogged down in every little detail, and we start to see what we need and what can be skipped. I also really appreciated the character design module.
